Program Notes

Commissioned by the NBC News Division for their Nightly News featuring Tom Brokaw, this signature theme has become one of the most often heard melodies on the air waves. Remembering the tapping of Morse code signals and also the clatter of the old ticker tape machines, Mr. Williams starts the music with references to these pre-Internet means of news delivery while providing a rhythmic pulse for the powerful main theme.
