Program Notes
This serious work is a rhythmic powerhouse. Audiences and performers alike will be swept up in the forward motion created by syncopations passed between all parts of the ensemble. A wonderful feature for saxes and brass choirs, displaying extended harmonies and muted colors, inhabits the center of the work. The percussion are featured in a soli section that announces the return of driving rhythms in the winds. Horns provide the melodic content that propels this work to a surprising conclusion.
