Program Notes
Midnight Fair was composed after a night of Halloween “trick or treating” by the children in the composers neighborhood. Their wonderfully creative costumes, combined with the constant flow of different evil characters, gave him the idea for a devilish type of melody that would repeat several times in different forms. Witches gather at the Midnight Fair. Dancing, and playing tricks, they share their love for evil doing. They dance in a circle, inviting the creatures of the night to join them. The music constantly evolves, suggesting ghostly apparitions sliding in and out of the magical soundscape.
