Biography

Michael Schofield (b. 21 June 1977) is currently the Director of Bands at Kingsburg High School in Kingsburg, Calif., where he directs the Marching Band, Wind Ensemble, Symphonic Band and Jazz Band. He holds a Master of Arts degree in Music Performance and a Bachelor of Arts degree in Music Education from CSU, Fresno. Mr. Schofield has studied conducting and ensemble rehearsal techniques with Dr. Lawrence Sutherland, Dr. Gary P. Gilroy, Ray Cramer and Dr. Stephen Pratt.

The band program at Kingsburg High School, under Mr. Schofield's direction has put a high emphasis on individual student achievement leading to ensemble excellence. Mr. Schofield is a three time recipient of the National Band Association's Citation of Excellence. His ensembles have consistently earned top ratings at festivals and performed at many prestigious events such as the California Association for Music Education State Conference in Sacramento, CA in 2008 and Carnegie Hall in 2011.

Active as an adjudicator, composer, and guest conductor, Mr. Schofield has conducted several honor bands and other ensembles including the Clovis Community Band, the Sequoia Winds and the Kingsburg Community Band. He was also the Director of Jazz Ensembles at Reedley College in Reedley, Calif., from 2008 to 2009. Mr. Schofield is the co-founder and co-owner of SP Music Productions, which seeks to promote quality marching band music combined with affordability.
