Program Notes

Metro Gnome was written for the founder of HAFABRA Music, Louis Martinus, and is a short "genre" piece. Upon receiving Martinus's request, Bourgeois composed the piece in a single night. It features a mix of simple, compound and complex time signatures within a song-like form. Despite its rhythmic complexity, the themes are lyrical and in a lighthearted style.
