Program Notes

Meltdown was composed in 1992 (rev. in 2012) after I had seen an anti-nuclear-spot on TV.

The work describes the life of a nuclear reactor, from its construction to its destruction. The music is a personal protest against the strong worldwide nuclear power lobby, joined with my weakness facing its power and danger. I hope that the six subtitles of Meltdown will stir up the audience to reflection.

This work received its premiere performance in April 1992 by the Luxembourg Conservatory Wind Orchestra, conducted by R. Hensgen.
