Program Notes

Matrix is a contemporary piece for concert band employing driving syncopated rhythms and interesting harmonies. It features an unusual solo percussion section utilizing woodwinds and brass as auxiliary percussion, with hand clapping, foot stomping, and the tapping of a pencil on the side of the music stand.
