Biography

Mateo James (b. 8 July 1987, Red Deer, Alberta, Can.) is a Canadian composer and educator.

Mr. James has a music composition degree from the University of Alberta (2011).

He is currently the junior high band teacher at Clairmont Community School and Whispering Ridge Community School in Grande Prairie, AB. Mateo’s goal is to make music that will resonate with people around the world. His composing was originally inspired by the Final Fantasy composer, Nobuo Uematsu. Mateo’s music has been performed numerous times by orchestras and concert bands in Canada and Korea, such as the Penticton Concert Band, the UCC Symphony Orchestra, the PWA high school band, and the Grande Prairie Symphony Orchestra. He has composed for mediums and events, such as ebook apps, documentaries, concert bands, orchestras, films, musicals, and more. Mateo loves to make music that is colorful, poetic, infused with passion and can connect with the listeners.
