Program Notes

The composer wrote this moving work after recognizing the need for well-paced lyric pieces for young players. Heartfelt and touching, it features a mournful melody that winds its way through a variety of moods and colors and will stay in your memory long after the music has ended.

- Program Note from publisher

The Lullaby in the Mirror is the third in a line of pieces written in celebration of the United Sound Organization. The charge of this group, under the leadership of CEO and Founder Julie Duty, is to create performance opportunities for new musicians with special needs through peer mentoring. As I write this, the United Sound program is growing by leaps and bounds across the nation, allowing even more new musicians and peer mentors to experience what music performance truly has to offer to students of all backgrounds. More information about this amazing program can be found at the United Sounds website (unitedsound.org).

The Lullaby in the Mirror is about new musicians seeing themselves as successful performers each time they reflect on their United Sound experiences. It is my hope that performers and audience members will hear and feel the passion in this piece that I feel for all of the amazing students whose lives have been positively touched by United Sound.
