Program Notes

Loudoun Praises was commissioned by Loudoun County High School [Leesburg, Va.] and director of bands William Strickler in honor of the school's 50th anniversary. Because of the rich history of the school and its northern Virginia surroundings, it was requested that portions of their alma mater be included. The title is taken from the verse "We praise thy grace and dignity / Thy glories to behold."

- Program Note from score

Loudoun Praises features dynamic brass fanfares, woodwind flourishes, and an exciting multi-metered melody with a dance-like quality. The piece explores an ever-changing palette of colors and eventually has the original melody and multi-metered sections collide in a dramatic conclusion.
