Program Notes

Look Up at the Stars is a popular 1963 hit performed by Japanese singer Kyu Sakamoto. The song, originally written for a musical of the same title in 1960, was composed by Taku Izumi (who won the Japan Record Award for it), with lyrics by Rokusuke Ei.

Look up at the starts at night
Just like us, a nameless star
Is praying for a simple happiness

Hold my hand
Let s chase our dreams
If we‘re together, it won‘t be hard

Look up at the starts at night
The tiny light of a tiny star
Is singing about a simple happiness

Hold my hand Look up at the stars at night
Look up at the stars at night
Just like us, a nameless star
Is praying for a simple happiness
