Program Notes

Mayan mythology is vividly portrayed through musical representations of deities worshipped by this ancient culture. Feathered Serpent, God of Rain and Thunder, Lord of the Woods and Lady Rainbow each have a musical section descriptive of their distinct powers. Inspired by a recent trip to the Mayan village of Chichén Itzá, expanded percussion and exotic rhythms and harmonies are used to bring to bring to life this amazing part of the world.
