Laurence Lowe

Biography

Laurence Lowe (b. Springville, Utah) is an American composer and hornist.

Prof. Lowe has been playing the horn since he was in the fifth grade. He received his bachelor’s degree in applied horn from the San Francisco Conservatory of Music as well as a master’s degree in performance and literature from the Eastman School of Music.

Laurence’s horn performance skills have taken him all over the world and he has performed in North America, Europe, South America, and Australia. Lowe is also an accomplished composer and has written several sonatas for horn and piano. He has played with several notable ensembles, including the Utah Symphony and Orchestra at Temple Square.

He has been professor of horn at Brigham Young University since 1993. He taught at the University of Missouri from 1983 to 1993.
