Program Notes

La Sévillane is the overture to the comic opera of the same name. It is in a medium-fast 6/8, somewhat in the style of a Spanish fandango crossed with a paso doble. A prominent fanfare type figure and hemiolas are often utilized. Bold, colorful, and full of swagger.
