Program Notes

Very rarely do I begin any composition without a title firmly in mind. Not having a specific event or mental picture in mind is also a very rare occurrence. Somewhere in the middle of this recently worldwide pandemic, I became somewhat fatalistic in my inner view of the so-called “circle of life.” I found myself somewhat consumed with what I imagined was the great “arc of life”. And so, one day, this particular set of variations just began to take shape. As a Musical Arc.

That’s all there is to the story. Except, "circle of life" sounds better in Italian.
