Program Notes
Knight Ride suggests a medieval knight’s daring and adventurous ride across the countryside or any adventure undertaken at night. The title is also a tribute to one of my husband’s favorite childhood television shows, Knight Rider.
The work is written for a beginning band’s first concert (after approximately 3-4 months of playing). The musical concepts used in this piece are almost exclusively drawn from the first thirteen student pages in Essential Elements. Knight Ride was premiered by the South Valley Middle School Beginning Band in Gilcrest, Colo. on December 14, 2017.
