Biography

Kairyo Searle (b. 14 August 2004, Yokohama, Japan) is an Australian student, clarinetist and composer.

Kairyo attends [2021] Matthew Flinders Anglican College (MFAC), where he is a clarinetist for the Matthew Flinders Anglican College Wind Symphony.

Originally playing the piano and violin at a very young age, Kairyo began lessons for the clarinet at the age of 11. After quitting clarinet entirely for two years in order to focus on violin, Kairyo began private lessons again for clarinet at age 13. In 2018 Kairyo was invited to be part of the Matthew Flinders Anglican College Wind Symphony as it traveled to the United States for concerts at the Midwest Clinic and around the country. It was in Chicago that Kairyo fell in love with the world of concert band music.

In 2020, Kairyo began to work on his first composition, Supernova. which won the 2021 Australian Society for Music Education Queensland Young Composers’ Competition (Senior Division).

Currently [2021], Kairyo is working on building his composing portfolio, in hopes to study composition and music at a tertiary level after school.
