Program Notes

Commissioned by The Manheim Central High School Band, John J. Brackbill, director.

Joshua's Shop of Miracles and Curiosities is an overture taking its lead from Music Makers by Alfred Reed, Festive Overture by Dmitri Shostakovich as a concert opener. The work, commissioned by Manheim Central High School, Manheim, Penn., is a a colorful representation of the work of Joshua P. Warren. Joshua is a leader in esoteric studies of subjects like Big Foot, Ghosts, and personal power. He has developed a Wishing Machine and Magic Wands.

The composition uses whole-tone and octatonic scales in conjunction with quick orchestration changes and stylistic challenges.
