Biography
John Rox (born John Jefferson Barber Herring, 21 June 1907, Des Moines, Iowa – 5 August 1957, Fire Island, N.Y.) was an American song writer.
Mr. Rox graduated from Drake College.
One of his most popular song hits was It's a Big, Wide, Wonderful World. He also wrote the novelty song I Want a Hippopotamus for Christmas. Many of John's songs were recorded by America's beloved artists. Pig, Pig was recorded by Burl Ives and Riding Down the Canyon was covered by Gene Autry. Others were used in Broadway musicals.
