Biography

Jess Kady (b. 1990, Tacoma, Wash.) is an American composer and pianist.

Kady began learning the trumpet and piano at age 12, and by 13 had written several pieces for piano. He graduated from Pacific Lutheran University in 2011 with his Bachelor of Music degree in composition, where he studied composition under Gregory Youtz, and played French horn under the instruction of Gina Gillie. Before starting his career of composition at PLU, he played bass guitar in a rock band called The Jury through his high school years, and combining elements of progressive rock and early 20th century classical composers, he found his compositional style.

Pixels' is Kady's third work for large ensemble, along with many pieces for piano and small ensembles.

Jess works in loan administration for a local bank, is married to Heather Kady (a fellow PLU alum, whom Jess met while she was majoring in music education) and has three children, is involved in his local church, and composes music in the small spaces of time he has left over.
