Jerry Williams

Biography

Jerry Williams (18 September 1951, Yosemite, Ky. – 2001) was an American composer and educator.

Williams studied at Indiana University (Bachelor of Music Education) and Ball State University (Master of Arts in Education). He taught instrumental music in the Greensburg (Indiana) School Corporation.

Williams wrote over 200 band compositions and arrangements at all levels of difficulty and also produced music for several commercials produced in the Indianapolis area. His first publication came in 1985 with his popular Free Spirit Overture. He was also co-writer of the Command Performance Band Book, and he composed over 50 popular band compositions including: Jingle Bells Around The World, H2Overture, Deck The Halls with Old Composers and When the Saints March Around the World. Jerry was blessed with delightful sense of humor which was reflected in many of his compositions.

He passed away from cancer in 2001.
