Jeff Herwig
Biography
Jeff Herwig (b. 1992) is an American composer and educator.
Mr. Herwig completed his undergraduate work at Slippery Rock University of Pennsylvania, where he majored in music education, and his Master of Music degree in conducting at Messiah College, Mechanicsburg, Penn..
Mr. Herwig is currently [2019] the director of bands at Mercer (Penn.) Area Middle-Senior High School. He is responsible for all secondary instrumental music in the district, directing the middle school concert band, senior high concert band, senior high wind ensemble, chamber winds, jazz ensemble, pep band, and marching band. he is also the founder of M&M Music Press. Mr. Herwig's works for concert band and chamber ensembles are distributed exclusively through M&M. His piece, The Bridge, was recently chosen as a winning selection in the Pennsylvania Music Educators Association 2019 Composition Contest.
Prior to working in the Mercer Area School District and starting up M&M Music Press, Jeff served as the director of bands at Titusville Area High School located in Titusville, Pennsylvania. In 2020, Jeff founded the Three Rivers Wind Symphony, for which he is the conductor and artistic director. TRWS is a professional wind ensemble based in Pittsburgh and dedicated to enhancing and expanding upon the wind band repertoire.
