Program Notes

The title of this engaging composition is drawn from the name of a mountain range in Antarctica known as Fenriskjeften, or Jaws of the Fenris. Fenris was a monstrous wolf of Norse mythology, and the mountain range is so named due to its jagged peaks that pierce the icy surface in a manner that resembles the fangs of a wolf.
