James Sproul

Biography

James Sproul (b. 1978, Los Angeles, Calif.) is an American composer and trumpeter.

Mr. Sproul received his Bachelor of Arts in Music Composition, magna cum laude, from California State University, Bakersfield, in 2005 and his Master of Music in Composition from Oklahoma City University in 2007.

Mr. Sproul has written for orchestra, band, and string quartets as well as many non-traditional ensemble configuration. He has a great passion for vocal music and has written many songs based on the texts of Emily Dickinson, Phillip Booth, James Joyce and others. He enjoys working with artists from other disciplines and has collaborated on film, photography, painting and dance projects.

An active trumpet player and pianist, Mr. Sproul is an instrumental music teacher in Central California.
