J. Eric Schmidt

Biography

J. Eric Schmidt (b. 1955) is an American composer, arranger and educator.

Mr. Schmidt studied music composition at Cal State Northridge, film scoring at UCLA, and attended the BMI Earl Hagen Film Scoring Workshop. For several years he has been a adjunct instructor at the USC Thornton School of Music SMPTV Program (Scoring for Motion Pictures and Television).

Eric has guest conducted many orchestras and concert bands throughout the United States. In Los Angeles, he has conducted over 400 scoring sessions for film and television, commercials, theme park shows and recording projects.

He has served as composer, conductor or orchestrator for a number of films, television series and theme parks and live shows. He also has composed solo piano works, chamber works and concert band pieces.

Since 2009, Mr. Schmidt has been an Arts Commissioner for the city of Santa Clarita, Calif.
