Program Notes

Dramatic and vivid musical imagery abounds in this expansive work, creatively merging Irish motives with contemporary compositional techniques. The percussion writing is exceptionally good; many true Irish rhythms are simulated with modern instruments, and some may be performed on authentic Irish instruments such as the bodhran.
