Program Notes
i/xhale was written for mezzo-soprano Megan Ihnen as part of her wordless lullaby project. With Megan's rigorous touring schedule and participatory concerts, I wanted to create a piece that would work quickly and easily with any combination of performers she came across. The gentle rising and falling gestures evoke inhalation and exhalation during sleep.
