Program Notes

This stunning Celtic overture opens with a marcato trumpet tune that gives a taste of the highland melodies about to unfold. At times brisk and spirited, at others tender, the lovely countermelodies enhance the tunefulness throughout. This may be John Moss' best contribution to young band literature to date. His use of ancient Scottish folk styles, coupled with his unmatched skill for musical drama, has resulted in this fabulous new work.
