Program Notes

Embracing a rich history of Israeli folk music, this spirited work by Robert Jager weaves together authentic folk tunes in a composition that is both lyrical and dance-like. The piece begins and ends with a folk melody that is used for both greeting and parting, Shalom Chaverim. Exotic harmonies and colors are explored using the melodies Zum Gali, Od Yishama, and Simon Tov giving the rhapsody an overall zest for life feeling inherent in this music.
