Grigoras Dinicu (3 April 1889, Bucharest, Romania – 5 August 1948, Bucharest) was a Romanian composer.
The son of musicians, Dinicu attended the Bucharest Conservatory, studying violin with Carl Flesch. After graduation, he played violin with the orchestra of the Ministry of Public Instruction. In 1906, he composedHora Staccato as a graduation exercise. Jascha Heifetz later arranged in virtuoso style.
Dinicu played in hotels, night clubs, and restaurants in Bucharest, as well as in several countries in western Europe. In addition to Hora Staccato, he composed many light Roumanian and Gypsy-style pieces.
