Program Notes

Grace Us by Raine Ampuja is basically a trio where the band in addition to the two soloists (trumpet and euphonium) constitutes the third member. The form of the piece follows a triple structure, where the same musical material is divided amongst three different mountains. Each mountain reaches higher towards the sky, in order to create a platform for a better outlook, that of a peaceful world. This hope is reflected in the use of the traditional Latin prayer Ave Maria.
