Program Notes
Composer Michael Story weaves two holiday favorites into a tapestry that audiences will remember and enjoy. The theme from Good King Wenceslas makes its ballet debut by being performed in the style of Tchaikovsky’s Nutcracker, specifically March of the Toys, Dance of the Sugar Plum Fairy, Waltz of the Flowers, and Russian Dance. “With apologies to Peter Tchaikovsky” is what is written under the title, warning the musicians of what capricious behavior awaits them in this piece.
