Program Notes
Rather typical of Elliot Del Borgo's published works, this is a fairly straightforward, albeit quite nice, sensitive setting of Londonderry Air; The Galway Pipers; The Irish Washerwoman and The Minstrel Boy, with some of the arranger's more typical meter changes and "flashy" woodwind passages appearing later in the work.
- Program Note from publisher
The Gaelic literature of Ireland, Highland Scotland and the Isle of Man is divided into several periods which date back before A.D. 900. Even the melodies featured by Del Borgo in this robust arrangement date back to interesting "first printings." They include Kerry Dancers, (1879), The Rakes of Mallow (Irish tradition), Londonderry Air (1855), and Minstrel Boy (1813).
