Program Notes

French Dances Revisited is based on three bars from Bach’s keyboard prelude BWV 939 in C Major. Members of the commissioning consortium premiered the work in the United States in Minnesota on November 7, 2004, and in the UK by the RAF Central Band Chamber Ensemble under Sq. Leader Duncan Stubbs at Colchester a month later.
