Program Notes

Dedicated to the many heroes who lost their lives on September 11, 2001, this David Shaffer composition features an uplifting tone designed as a tribute to the fallen. Full of energy and dynamic contrasts, it includes a host of effective percussion parts that will keep the drummers involved and interested. Also has a unique section where a large part of the band chant a haunting melody before returning to the powerful main themes.

For the Fallen was commissioned by and is dedicated to the Robinson Secondary School Band, Fairfax, Virginia, Linda Gammon, conductor.
