Program Notes

I'm so lucky to live in a cute cabin in the middle of a coffee estate outside Coatepec, Veracruz. During the flowering season of coffee all plants are filled with beautiful small white flowers that remind of jasmine. That's why I wrote a piece that tries to describe the beauty and aroma of the flower of the cafeto; for this I used elements of the Mexican bolero genre, so full of sensuality and eroticism.

Flor de Cafeto has just been published by Murphy Music Press and the WASBE (World Association For Symphonic Bands And Ensembles). I thank Darrell Brown for the invitation to participate in this important WASBE project that brings together bands and composers from around the world.
