Program Notes

This fun and exciting Fiesta! was created to allow for any size instrumentation from two players on up to enjoy some rhythms and spirit from Latin America. The percussion (including claves, guiro, shakers, and agogo bell), though optional, is highly recommended to help add to the overall festivities.

The piece starts as a samba and transitions seamlessly (rhythmic modulation) into a cha-cha before returning back again to the samba and a thrilling finish. With the “Flextet” duo series, the option is available for any two players/instruments from Part I and Part II to play this as a duet, or for an entire band of any instrumentation to play together. Tacets and cues are in place to help shape the overall texture, should the full band be performing the work.
