Program Notes
Festival was composed in 1961 for band and orchestra simultaneously. A tour de force in instrumentation, the objective of this showpiece was to generate a festive mood -- one of gaiety and excitement. This is a tightly knit composition, with both the fast and slow sections based on the same thematic material.
