This work is based on four old airs whose lyrics touch on various aspects of the chase: The Lincolnshire Poacher; The Fox Chase; A-Hunting We Will Go; and John Peel. The strains of these delightful melodies are cleverly intertwined throughout this lively work as it drives toward its powerfully climactic conclusion.
