Program Notes

The composer uses fragments of Beethoven's Moonlight Sonata to present a "darker" view of the lunar romantic, in a transparent, hauntingly beautiful journey that holds listeners' rapt attention.

Fantasma Lunare was commissioned by the Nakazawa Municipal Technical High School Symphonic Band, Ishikawa, Japan for the performance at La Folle Journee de Kanazawa, an international music festival on May 3, 2008.
