Program Notes

The opportunity to mix flamenco with other music styles was very interesting. I was attracted by the melodic, harmonic and rhythmic characteristics of its different "palos" or "cantes". The concertante style with an optional cadence for the quintet gives an interesting background to develop the soloistic virtuosity, constantly combined with the different sections for the full orchestra.

The original composition was a commission by the Institut Valencia de la Musica for a symphonic band and brass quintet.
