Program Notes

Enthroned in harmony, the tones wistfully command a proposition: to display itself mightily. These tones ask one question: “What can we say?” To the audience, it is carefully enjoyed through the lens of the obvious: clusters and chords suggesting a mighty war, or an announcement of grandeur, or plans to act upon an imminent circumstance. But, out of these clusters, tones, and harmonies, a simple statement, a rising line, reveals the tones’ intent, and that intent is to celebrate its existence, to fly. This is no parade, but an explosive revelation of the tone, taking flight at the great news of excitement and freedom – a herald for the masses and the individual. That is Exuberant Flight, for it is not simply a flight made of notes, but excitement embedded in the freedom of flight.
