This superbly crafted composition by James Swearingen is perfect as a concert opener. Bold and stately, its lush scoring (especially for the F horns) gives it a majestic appeal that is truly special.

Exordium (Prelude to a New Era) was commissioned for the Bicentennial Celebration of Centerville-Washington Township, Ohio, 1796-1996.
