Program Notes

The work was commissioned by the Oklahoma chapter of Phi Beta Mu to commemorate the lifetime work and accomplishments of George Brite, who served as director of bands at Sapulpa High School for many years. His very straightforward overture in ABA form is full of jazz harmony, musical humor, clever counterpoint and colorful scoring for which Jim Barnes is so well known.
