Program Notes

The Universe of Energy was a pavilion in Future World at Disney World’s EPCOT starting in 1982 before changing over to Ellen’s Energy Adventure in 1996, starring Ellen DeGeneres and Bill Nye “The Science Guy.” The ride was repurposed again in 2017.

An Epcot Overture (2006) was the soundtrack as ride-goers would learn about various energy resources, how energy is produced, the history of energy production, and the search for new resources. The ride showed DeGeneres dreaming of an energy-themed Jeopardy! game in which she gets saved by Bill Nye, from losing. The unlikely duo walk you through the evolution of energy from the Big Bang and the formation of the galaxy, through dinosaurs' contributions to energy eons later, up to potential future resources across the United States. DeGeneres then re-entered the Jeopardy! game and won.
