Douglas A. Bradley

Biography

Douglas A. Bradley (b. 1958) is an American composer and educator.

Mr. Bradley's Bachelor of Science with honors in Music Education degree is from the University of Minnesota, Minneapolis. His Master of Music Education degree is from the VanderCook College of Music, Chicago, Il.

Mr. Bradley has more than 26 years of teaching middle school and elementary school band. The last 16 years have been with District 833 (Minnesota).

He is very active in the Minnesota Band Directors Association, serving many times as an audition judge and section coach for the Middle Level Honor Bands and as a section coach for the Beginning Level Honor Bands. In 2012, he was invited to be the guest conductor of the Southwest Minnesota Middle Level Honor Band Festival in Marshall, MN. In 2012, 2013 and 2014, he was invited to be a guest conductor of the Beginning Level Band Festival in Cottage Grove, MN.

As a composer, Mr. Bradley nine pieces published for young bands, many of which have been performed and well received at the Minnesota Music Educators Association Mid-Winter Clinic. He has also been commissioned to write music for several area bands including Liberty Celebration for the Liberty Ridge Elementary School, Vivacity for Mahtomedi High School and We Are The Mustangs for Middleton Elementary School.

As a performer, he played for 18 seasons at the Minnesota Renaissance Festival, serving as my group’s musical director for the last 13. He has played lead and solo trumpet with many of the area’s jazz bands and combos including the Red Rock Swing Band.
