Donald Patterson
Biography
Donald C. Patterson is an American Marine Corps noncommissioned officer and arranger.
Master Gunnery Sgt. Patterson began his musical training at age 12. After graduating in 1979 from Galena Park High School, he earned a bachelor’s degree in music education (1984) at Sam Houston State University in Huntsville, Texas, where he studied with Henry Howey.
Upon earning his degree, Don taught band in the public schools of Galena Park and Tomball for seven years, before auditioning for and securing a position in one of the nation’s premiere military bands in Washington, D.C.
He joined “The President’s Own” United States Marine Band as a trombonist in August 1991. He joined the music production staff in 2003 and retired as music production chief/staff arranger in 2021.
