Don Colquitt
Biography
Don Colquitt is an American composer and educator.
Mr. Colquitt earned a Bachelor of Music degree in composition degree at Henderson State University in Arkadelphia, Arkansas, where he studied with William Underwood.
Mr. Colquitt currently serves as band director at Texas Middle School in Texarkana, Texas, supervising band instruction for sixth, seventh, and eighth grade students. He has formerly worked in the Paris, Plano, and Hooks Independent School Districts.
In addition to his teaching career, Mr. Colquitt composes music for bands of all levels. His works have been commissioned by the Southern Arkansas University Wind Ensemble, the University Interscholastic League, the Camden High School Band, Four States Bandmasters Association, the Murfreesboro High School Band, the Crossett High School Band, and the DeKalb High School Band. His works have premiered at the Arkansas State Band and Orchestra Association Convention, Four States Bandmasters Association Convention, Texas Music Educators Association Convention, and his pieces have been performed at the Metropolitan Annual Brass Band Festival in Tokyo, Japan. Don stays busy as an arranger, adjudicator, and clinician in Texas, Arkansas, and Louisiana. He is the bass guitarist for the Texarkana Jazz Orchestra.
