Program Notes

Distance Imagined was commissioned by the Grand Rapids Symphonic Band, Grand Rapids, Michigan, in honor of Dr. John Stanley Ross, Conductor Emeritus. The composer adds the following inscription in the score to reflect the aesthetic intent of the work: “The road to salvation in the journey home. The path itself is distance imagined.”
