Diane Whitacre
Biography
Diane Whitacre (b. 1961, Indiana) is an American composer and teacher.
Ms. Whitacre received a Bachelor of Music Education degree with distinction from the Indiana University School of Music in 1984. She studied composition with Thomas Beversdorf and Bernard Heiden, and jazz arranging with Dominic Spera.
Whitacre has written for both instrumental and vocal mediums throughout her life, either for her own students and ensembles, for others, or at church when needed. Whitacre has composed extensively for voice, solo instruments, and jazz and wind band.
Ms. Whitacre is a private instructor on oboe, piano, and composition. She had two tenures as band director at Riverview Middle School, Huntington, Ind. and South Newton Jr-Sr. High School, Kentland, Ind. She established full-time arranging and composing business, Maple Grove Publishing, in 2006.
